Love Chick-fil-A's supposedly delicious chicken sandwiches, but hate supporting a company whose charitable arm funnels money to anti-gay Christian groups? There's solution, albeit a daffy one. Consumer rights attorney Ted Frank has created Chicken Offsets, an easy way to tithe your guilt away by donating $1 "to non-profits that support gays" for every meal you consume at Chick-fil-A.

"We promise your offsets will provide far more money to non-profits that support gays than buying a sandwich at Chick-fil-A ends up putting in the pockets of anti-gay-rights organizations," says Frank on the Chicken Offset website. According to Frank, at least 90% of the proceeds will be donated to It Gets Better and the Williams Institute, "after our minimal expenses" are covered. Now all we need is some enterprising NYU students to start a business scalping sandwiches from the lone Chick-fil-A in NYC, and we'll be all set.

In other Chick-fil-A news, Jesse Bering at Slate has 2,600 words on why this Chick-fil-A controversy is as "dangerous" as it is idiotic. "If you’re doubtful of the danger of stupidity, consider a sampling of public tweets I’ve dredged up by combining gay epithets with 'Chick-fil-A,' " writes Bering. "I should warn you in advance that this list is chilling, especially if you or someone you love, perhaps your child, is gay or lesbian." He's right—it's pretty grotesque. On the bright side, a lesbian-owned restaurant in Houston called Beaver's is now selling a "Chick-On-Chick" Fillet. [Via Grub Street]
