Rupert Murdoch knows that Mitt Romney has a "heart and stomach," but thinks he needs to blacken the former and steel the latter if he wants to win in November. "Met Romney last week," Murdoch tweeted this morning. "Tough O Chicago pros will be hard to beat unless he drops old friends from team and hires some real pros. Doubtful." Indeed, if only Romney had a ruthless media conglomerate nakedly pursuing the goal of electing him, he'd be in much better shape.

Perhaps it's all part of a strategy to distract us from the fact that his beloved company is being cleaved into two. Or maybe he just gets playful in front of his computer while he's sucking the marrow from unicorn bones at 4:30 a.m.

Besides making Williard Romney furrow his brow and mutter "Gee willikers," Murdoch is also poking the giant ball of money-thetans with his gilded electronic staff.
