The early Thursday morning Rihanna-inspired brawl possibly between Chris Brown and Drake (or Chris Brown's entourage and Drake's entourage or some combination of them) continues to simmer with rumors that Drake will be arrested. Or won't be arrested. The Post says cops want him, while TMZ says the Post is wrong.
The Post's sources say that Drake "is expected to be charged with reckless endangerment, sources said, after a witness told cops the hip-hopper hurled the projectile during the 4 a.m. mayhem Thursday at the SoHo hotspot W.i.P. The witness didn’t believe Drake hit anyone with the bottle. If Drake doesn’t agree to surrender by early next week, cops may arrest him during tonight’s concert at Jones Beach, the sources said."
However, TMZ said, "We're told not only is it not true, cops have 'no suspects, complaints or arrest warrants at this time.' According to the report, a single witness allegedly told cops Drake threw the bottle. Chris Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, who has been vocal since the incident, claims he has evidence Drake threw glassware, though he has not been specific." Come on, doesn't the NYPD want to arrest Drake for that South Street Seaport riot?
At least five people were injured in the melee at Soho nightclub WiP, which was apparently started when Brown ordered a bottle to be sent to Drake's table. Then Drake allegedly sent Brown a note saying something along the lines of "I'm f---ing the love of your life," referring to Rihanna. One witness—who was with Brown—claims that Drake and his group went over to Brown, "They were giving him [Brown] the middle finger. They got into each other’s faces and were shouting at each other. Chris told Drake to f--k off, and the next thing I could hear is the sound smashed glass and mayhem started."
Another witness, Kenneth McCray, said, "Drake threw the bottle at Brown, but it missed him and hit his bodyguard. It looked like it was Drake that started throwing bottles," and added that Drake started throwing punches. McCrazy said that by the end, Brown was covered in blood and yelled at Drake,"You f------ b----, you hit me with a bottle!" Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos said his client needs eight stitches and Brown's bodyguard needed 18 stitches for this injuries.
The police are also investigating whether there was gunfire: Police spokesman Paul Brown said, "While none so far reported seeing a gun, several witnesses have told NYPD detectives that they heard what they believed was a gunshot inside the club during the disturbance."
Injured clubgoers have been popping up, showing off their wounds to the press, including San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker. He got a glass shard in the eye. Parker says he's okay, it won't stop him from being in the Olympics.
As Chuck D Tweeted, "Somebody should tell ChrisBrown-Drake cut that Bullsht leave bodyguards home get in the ring fight & raise some $ for some youth centers, wtf"
