So that $2.3 billion upgrade to the city's 911 EMS system? Apparently it wasn't enough to stop the 911 software from going down completely!

According to the Post, the EMS 911 system "briefly flatlined this morning, potentially causing delays for people desperately waiting for an ambulance, authorities said. Fire officials could not be reached immediately to explain the glitch, and it was unclear exactly what time the software used to dispatch ambulances to emergencies crashed."

Upside: Things were back up by 12:20 p.m. and the FDNY says its system was still operating. The downside: The upgrade was supposed to be done by 2008 (but won't be done till 2015—God forbid we have another blizzageddon!) and only cost $1.3 billion.
