Nature lovers, architecture aficionados, and history buffs can all find plenty to appreciate inside the Brooklyn Navy Yard, established by John Adams in 1801 and reopened as an industrial park in 1969. Though usually closed to the public, BLDG 92 is offering seasonal photography tours where participants will be shuttled by bus through a series of locations and may photograph at their leisure. And because New Yorkers have retained their competitive spirit since the days of yore, a professional photographer will choose the top three photos posted to Instagram, with winners receiving a pair of free tickets for any Brooklyn Navy Yard tour. (Alice Severs)Saturday, July 20th,11 a.m. to 1 p.m. // Brooklyn Navy Yard // Tickets $30

Yesterday was the OHNY openstudios event at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. We'll have a full post on that tomorrow, but thought you might also enjoy some new landscape shots taken from buildings around the Yard. Since last we took a full tour, there's been a ton of redevelopment, including a new visitor's center at Building 92.

Related: a spooky tour of the Navy Yard Hospital, some pictures from inside the soon-to-be-demolished Admiral's Row, a tour of the totally off-limits Commandant's House, and a great set of historical pictures all around the Yard.

If you're interested in taking a look at the Navy Yard yourself, you can sign up for upcoming tours at the Building 92 website.
