New Yorkers are going gaga for this Great GoogaMooga what-have-you. Or maybe people simply like free stuff? The free food and music festival planned for Prospect Park next month is turning out to be one hell of a hot ticket. You'll recall that when tickets were first released in March, the first batch of tickets were snatched up seemingly instantly, with many would-be GoogaMoogars reporting serious #WTF #FAIL issues with the ticket site. This afternoon, a new block of free tickets were released, and immediately devoured once again.
The Great GoogaMooga ticket site was out of tickets within 15 minutes of the rerelease today, which isn't such a surprise considering the musical lineup was announced yesterday, and how often do you get to wait online for a $17 lobster roll while shimmying to Hall & Oates for free? So now things are getting desperate. One Park Slope woman is offering up the use of her bathroom on the weekend of the festival in exchange for a ticket. Others are considering volunteeringto pick up trash in exchange for entry & approximately $50 food & drink vouchers. When hipsters volunteer, you know something's gone seriously wrong.
And others, inevitably, are scalping. Tickets on StubHub are going for as high as $118! Which actually isn't too bad when you consider the "Super Mooga" VIP tickets are going for $250. But why stop there? For just $5,000, the Super Duper Googa Mooga Oompa Loompa pass gets you a free gift bag packed with loofas, roombas, nougats and lugers!
