So, somehow, when a taxi cab collided with a tractor-trailer at Lexington and 48th Street and then crashed into a hotel, the three people involved were not seriously injured. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. and photos show the wrecked cab and a jackknifed tractor-trailer. One witness said, "It sounded like a bomb. I came up to see what happened and the passenger got out of the taxi and was wandering around in a daze. He didn't know what happened. He said, ‘All I remember is we were heading south on Lexington.'" Taxi passengers, PLEASE BUCKLE UP.
EMS had to cut through the roof of the cab to rescue the driver (yikes!). Then the taxi driver and tractor trailer driver blamed each other for the crash, claiming the other had run a red light.
Another taxi driver who was clipped by the tractor-trailer said, "I heard a big sound and I look in the mirror and I see the truck. They just hit me in the back. It was so scary."
