Nobody wants to think about—let alone picture—their Grandma doing it. Except for NY-based advertising company DDB NY. They definitely do want you to think about that with their new sorta-graphic (but SFW) campaign promoting safe sex for seniors. It seems entirely appropriate that their motto is, "An idea can turn to dust or magic depending on the talent that RUBS against it" (our emphasis, not theirs).
The ad, which was made in collaboration with SafeSex4Seniors.org, highlights the fact that the rate of STDs among sexually active senior citizens has risen over 70% in the last five years. We just think it's cute that the elderly people in the video can't keep a straight face while getting themselves into some flexible poses to simulate all sorts of nasty things.
That seemed to be DDB's strategy: "Rather than taking a negative approach that uses scare tactics and piles on statistics to deter unsafe sex, DDB made the strategic choice to use humor and shock value...Whether the younger generation likes it or not, our grandparents are having sex. We wanted to make a sexy ad that maintains a level of tastefulness and encourages seniors to enjoy their sex lives—safely." But where's the PSA on senior sexting? It's gotta be the most successful senior hookup aide next to the 4:30 p.m. early bird special at the Country Kitchen Buffet.
