Kangaroo is on the menu this weekend (and this weekend only) at both locations of The Burger Bistro, in Bay Ridge and Park Slope. The kangaroos in these Burger Bistro burgers are sourced directly from Australia—none of that Canadian factory-farm kanga meat here. The burgers will go for $12, and customers can order them with the bread, topping and cheese of your choice.
Back in 2003, vintage Gothamist tried the Roasted Kangaroo Loin at the Australian restaurant Eight Mile Creek, and found it to be akin to a "very lean steak." (Maybe that was the Cosmo talking.) The Kanga Loin is still on the menu at Eight Mile Creek (it goes for $30), and you can also try it at Public in SoHo, which serves a Grilled Kangaroo On A Coriander Falafel with lemon tahini sauce and green pepper relish ($13.50). Isn't it wonderful living in a town where you can eat all kinds of adorable animals from all over the world?
The Burger Bistro in Bay Ridge is located at 7217 Third Avenue and in Park Slope 177 5th Avenue. Hop on over there for the Kanga Burger from Friday though Sunday.
