The NYPD confirms it is investigating a suspicious white powder that was mailed to 1048 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. The address is for the Neue Galerie, the Upper East Side "museum devoted to early twentieth-century German and Austrian art and design." We're hearing that three people were exposed and are being decontaminated.

One of the most famous pieces in the museum, which is open today to visitors, is the Gustv Klimt painting, Adele Bloch-Bauer I, donated by billionaire cosmetics heir Ronald Lauder.
Other paintings from Lauder's collection are on exhibit.

Update: Apparently a "suspicious" letter was received in the administrative offices at the museum, so the police were called. It was later determined to be harmless.
