Among the many things the gorgeous weather we're having reminds us of is that biking season is on. And soon, thanks to the city's upcoming Bike Share program, you won't even have to own a bike to enjoy our metropolis's many fine bike lanes. But where will those Bike Share stations be? Glad you asked!
Starting tonight and going through March Community Boards in Manhattan and Brooklyn are holding workshops to help decide where the program's 600 initial stations should be placed—and they want your input. Tonight Brooklyn CB2 will discuss locations in Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO, Boerum Hill, Fort Greene, Brooklyn Heights and Clinton Hill. The meetings (there are two) are at 6 and 7 p.m. at St. Francis College (180 Remsen Street). For all the other areas, check out the full schedule of meetings over here.
If you have any intention of using the Bike Share program (say, as a pleasant alternative way to get home after work on a pretty day) and would like the stations closer to your office (or home), well, you probably want to go to these meetings! And if you can't make it? There are other ways you can have your voice heard. Like this interactive map where you can suggest or confirm your interest in a specific station location.
The whole thing is supposed to launch this summer and we can't hardly wait. You can learn more about what to expect of the program here.
