Raise a glass to the SLA's new interactive website, which features a map showing all the liquor licenses held by business owners in New York State, as well as all the pending liquor licenses and previous violations. The map, which also shows where churches and schools are located, lets users search active and pending licenses by address, company and business name. The FUTURE! Here's the link to the website, which is part of a major technology overhaul for the SLA, undertaken with $369,000 in funding secured by State Senator Daniel Squadron.

"This website will make life a whole lot easier for communities and businesses," says Senator Squadron. His press release notes that in the 2009 deficit reduction act, "existing SLA budget dollars were repurposed for these much-needed technology upgrades. In addition to the interactive website, the funding was set aside for other cost-saving upgrades to streamline the processing of applications, decrease the time required to approve a license, and help eliminate SLA's notorious backlog of applications."

Now the SLA just needs another $100K to integrate Happy Hour and open bar mapping technology into the website and it'll get some serious page views.
