Beneath New York City lies a vast network of abandoned tunnels, caverns, nooks and crannies that the average joe will never see. But urban explorer Steve Duncan is not your average joe! As you'll see in their Undercity series, he and filmmaker Andrew Wonder really like getting dirty below grade. This week they go into the sewers beneath Astoria where one can easily drown in the rising tide. Also, huge cockroaches.

Unlike the last set of sewers the guys visited, what you are seeing here is the remnants of a stream (the Linden Brook) long-since turned into sewer that ends up right by the Triborough Bridge. And it isn't exactly the safest spot! As you can see the water can get quite high in there, quite quickly. And those bricks range from slippery to really fucking slippery. So, maybe don't try this one at home, kids.

For further Undercity adventures, why not try an abandoned subway station, the old Second Avenue Subway tunnels, or the Amtrak Freedom Tunnel?
