What else is there to say about Jeremy Lin? A last-second 3-pointer from the Knicks guard lifted his team to a 90-87 win at Toronto. Amare Stoudemire returned and had 21 points, but Lin stole the show with 27 points and 11 assists. He scored the last six points for the Knicks, who won their sixth straight. The Raptors played up Lin's visit by placing his picture on their website, and he didn't disappoint the crowd of 20,092, many of whom waved Taiwanese flags. He had eight turnovers, but who's counting? Before Lin's basket, the Knicks had not led since the first quarter. They trailed by as many as 17.
After a 3-0 win in Boston, the Rangers now lead the Eastern Conference by nine points and appear in complete control. Of course, regular-season hockey matters only slightly more than a seven-day weather forecast, so they won't get too giddy. But they have a talented goalkeeper -- Henrik Lundqvist stopped 42 shots -- a Stanley Cup-winning coach and a team committed to the less glamorous aspects of the game.
Thanks to a hat trick from Ilya Kovalchuk, the Devils took a 4-1win in Buffalo. Kovalchuk even assisted on Petr Sykora's tiebreaking goal early in the third period before the Devils blew the game open. They sit at sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
P.A. Parenteau had a tiebreaking goal as the Islanders beat the Jets 3-1 in Winnipeg. Evgeni Nabokov made 37 saves.
