If one things goes perfectly with Valentine's Day, it has to be free ice cream, right? So how good of select Ben & Jerry's locations to offer up the stuff from 5—8 p.m. today, just as the lonely people are getting out of work. Even if the give-away technically has nothing to do with soothing the loveless and everything to do with raising awareness for the company's "Get the dough out of politics" campaign.
All of which is to say, don't expect to get any scoop you want for free tonight. They'll just be handing out Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream. Which is not a bad flavor! As to what this is all about? Here, we'll let B&J explain:
There’s way too much money in American politics. It’s drowning out people’s voices, especially since the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision gave corporations the green light to spend limitless sums of money to influence our elections. We are building a movement of engaged citizens and responsible business leaders working together to oppose this decision and Get the Dough Out of Politics. Our goal is to take back American democracy, and over-rule the Supreme Court, with a Constitutional Amendment that will keep corporate money out of our elections.
