Linsanity continued sweeping the nation last night as the Knicks beat the Washington Wizards behind a violent dunk from the surging Jeremy Lin (who also had a double-double!). Spike Lee was so moved by what he saw, he came up with a new-new nickname for Lin: "JEREMY "MY SHOT IS FALL"LIN." But perhaps the best part of the evening was when we all got a glimpse of Lin and Landry Fields' incredibly nerdy handshake:
NBA Off-Season describes it thusly: "skimming through book, taking off glasses, then placing inside pocket protector." Buzzfeed breaks it down even further:
- Step One: Two quick high fives on opposite hands.
- Step Two: Landry Fields presents his hands to Jeremy Lin as though they are a book.
- Step Three: Lin "pages" through the book.
- Step Four: Fields closes the book.
- Step Five: Both Lin and Fields put their hands to their eyes as though they are glasses.
- Step Six: Both players "remove" their glasses and put them into an invisible shirt pocket.
More good news for Linatics: the deeply religious Lin, who has been couchsurfing for the past six weeks while waiting to see whether he'd remain with the team or not, is going to find his own place now that his contract is settled! “Yeah, I’m gonna get my own place soon,” he told a reporter.
So Lin is the feel-good story of the NBA right now. He's got incredible natural skills and is only going to get better. He's beloved by his teammates and fans alike. He's inspired Walt Clyde Frazier to new heights of verbal dexterity, and he's already inspired a cottage industry of Lin-ography (Linning, Linsanity, Inlincible, All I Do Is LIN LIN LIN, 7 Deadly Lins, Lin and Tonic, etc). And guess what? He's also fierce at intramural flag football games.
