Good news for the Knicks: They are probably still better than the Nets. The bad news: They needed a spark from Jeremy Lin to prove it. The Harvard guard product scored 25 points (obviously a career high—see the NBA's montage of it below) to help the sluggish Knicks to a 99-92 win. Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chanlder each had 17 points, but Lin was the story. He added seven assists and even outshone Nets start Deron Williams. Lin's alma mater also beat Columbia on Saturday night.
The Post reports, "Lin was so good at a position the Knicks have been so bad at, he likely will be promoted to starting point guard, perhaps as soon as tomorrow against Utah, according to D’Antoni."
Thanks to two goals from Kurtis Foster, the Devils scored the first six goals and held off the Flyers, 6-4. Ilya Kovalchuk fought Brayden Schenn and scored a short-handed goal. The Flyers made it a two-goal game with just over six minutes to go in the third period, but the Devils hung on. Three of their goals, including both from Foster came on the power play.
The Islanders wasted their two-goal lead in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Sabres. Frans Nielsen scored twice and Josh Bailey once in a three-goal first period to give the Islanders a 3-1 lead. But that would be the end of the scoring.
