A house fire in New Jersey this week led to the arrest of a Pratt professor on charges of endangering the welfare of a child. According to the New Jersey State Police, 76-year-old architecture professor Gamal El-Zoghby was arrested after firefighters battling a blaze in his Eagleswood Township home found child pornography hidden in the ceiling.
The police won't say how many images were found on Tuesday, but spokesman Brian Polite will say the disturbing discovery was made when firefighters were "pulling Sheetrock from the walls of the home to make sure the fire wasn’t spreading" and suddenly child porn started fluttering down from the ceiling.
El-Zoghby was arrested, charged and released pending a future court date. Officials from Pratt have not yet commented on the case. Meanwhile the fire in his home (which El-Zoghby called a "dream" for him and his partner, Martha Steinberg, in a 2004 interview) took twelve hours to put out. There is no word yet on what caused it.
