It turns out that passionate Jets fan NJ Gov. Chris Christie is a bandwagon jumper: on the "Today" show this morning, Christie said that if the Giants do win the Super Bowl, he wants the parade to happen in NJ. "They play in New Jersey. They train in New Jersey," he said. Stop it Christie, you're going to anger the Jinx Gods, just like Bloomberg did with the Yankees in 2010.
The Giants play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game; if they win, they'll face either the Baltimore Ravens or New England Patriots—in a potential 2007 rematch—in the Super Bowl. When Matt Lauer challenged Christie on his assertion that the Giants were NJ-born and bred—pointing out the Giants logo on their helmets reads "NY"—Christie responded, "That's about it." The worst part about all this is that Christie doesn't even like the Giants—he's a die hard Jets fan through and through.
When the Jets and Giants faced off in December, he was unabashedly rooting for Rex Ryan and his dysfunctional team: “The Jets have been the more consistent team this year. The Jets are going to win,” he hilariously said. And it made sense when he argued that the Jets belonged to NJ.
Hell, we even saw Christie sitting right above us at the only Jets game we went to this season (when they creamed the Miami Dolphins at home). There must be some other reason he's so invested in the Giants winning now...maybe Christie just has some money on the game?
