Wearing throwback uniforms and playing at Citizens Bank Park, the Rangers proved they can play as well outside as they have performed inside so far this season. They rallied from a two-goal deficit and then held off the Flyers, 3-2, in the 2012 Winter Classic. Henrik Lundqvist came up huge in the third period, stopping a penalty shot with 19 seconds remaining after Ryan McDonagh covered the puck in the crease. That came after Michael Rupp scored twice -- once in the second period and once in the third -- to tie the game and Brad Richards put the Rangers ahead. With 52 points, the Rangers sit atop the Eastern Conference.

Things didn't go as well for the Devils, who blew a two-goal lead and fell, 3-2, in overtime at Ottawa. Dainius Zubrus and David Clarkson had first-period goals, but Martin Brodeur gave up two in the third. At least the Devils got a point for their efforts.

As it turns out, scoring only three baskets in a quarter is not a good way to win a basketball game. That's what the Knicks did in the second quarter of a 90-85 loss at home to Toronto. Carmelo Anthony had 35 points and 11 rebounds, but Amar'e Stoudemire sat out for the second straight game with a sprained ankle. Time Warner subscribers couldn't watch, but their inability to see this game was probably for the best.

The Nets have played two home games, and they have not led for a single second. On Monday, they fell to Indiana, 108-94, for their fifth straight loss. Deron Williams had 22 and MarShon Brooks had 21.
