Woe is Starbucks. The coffee behemoth has had a rough go of things lately—Wolfgang Puck dissed on their crappy brew, (despite their desperate attempts to make it palatable), and the chain is still reeling from the long Chronic Masturbator nightmare. Things continue to get worse for the scrappy mom-and-pop shop today, with the news that the company is being forced to raise drink prices across the Northeast. Yes, that's right, your mocha-choco-sugar free-half-caf-skim-extra hot vanilla latte's going to cost you, kid.
The chain is charging more for a handful of drinks in New York—for example, "tall" (that's "small" to people who use normal descriptors) brewed coffees and latte drinks will go up 10 cents, and prices on about a half dozen other drinks will also increase. The price hike is meant to offset the costs of pesky operating expenses like distribution, store operations, buying fuel and buying ingredients, said Starbucks spokesman Jim Olson. And sure, it might not sound like a lot, but sheeple, wake up! That's three extra dollars a month, or $36 a year, or roughly the cost of a very basic Mr. Coffee that will make a better-tasting cuppa than anything Starbucks has ever produced.
