A NJ woman who is accused of injecting a young man's penis with silicone as part of a penis enhancing procedure has been charged in his death. Kasia Rivera, 34, was arrested on manslaughter charges and unauthorized practice of medicine in the death of 22-year-old Justin Street. According to the medical examiner, Street died from a silicone embolism one day after the procedure.
Street, who police say wanted to enlarge his penis, went to Rivera’s home on May 5, where she allegedly gave him the injection; he died a day later. The death was ruled a homicide following an investigation; Rivera was arrested yesterday and is being held on $75,000 bail. Police are still investigating whether there are other victims who utilizes Rivera's services.
Deaths and injuries from illegal cosmetic procedures is no new thing: last year, a Queens spa owner was charged with second-degree assault and unlawfully practicing medicine for performing "butt enhancement" surgery. Last month, an unlicensed Bronx cosmetologist was convicted of criminally negligent homicide in the case of a client who came to her for silicone injections in her buttocks and died of a silicone embolism in her lungs.
