Kanye West was scheduled to perform at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2007, but he dropped out at the last minute because of his mother's death. Last night, at last, West surfaced at the annual advertising/ogling event, and told the crowd, "In 2007, I was supposed to perform this song... then my mom passed away. I lost my super hero. And now she's my super angel." Then a series of supermodels appeared, led by Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio wearing a leather harness, push-up bra, thigh-high leather boots, and a cape with the word "Incredible" on it. Out of the ashes of family tragedy emerges over-the-top sexuality!

The 45-minute spectacular at the Lexington Armory in Manhattan also featured performances by Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and an appearance by Maroon 5 and their lead tool Adam Levine, who walked the runway with his girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna. Other highlights: Miranda Kerr's Fantasy Bra, which was studded with $2.5 million worth of diamonds; and Alessandra Ambrosio's Passion Play Fan Wings, which were covered in 23-carat gold and 105,000 Swarovski Elements. Sure, America may be a "run-down and demented pimp," as Sam Lipsyte put it, but we can still put on a good show!

Check back tomorrow morning for more photos and backstage shots from Katie Sokoler. The show, which reportedly cost $12 million to produce, was taped for television, will air on CBS November 29th.
