In honor of November (aka Vegan Month) Two Boots has begun selling a "V for Vegan" pizza in its locations across town. But Two Boots isn't the only place offering pies to those who don't dig animal products. Here are five more spots you can sink your teeth into without guilt:
Pala: Down on Allen street this Italian restaurant has a whole vegan menu [PDF] that includes salads and pastas in addition to seven different vegan pies which range from $14 for the basic Arrabiata pie to $18 for the eggplant-y Etna pie. 198 Allen Street // 212-614-7252
Pizza Plus: In the land of strollers, a pizzeria would be silly to leave a penny on the table. So naturally this Park Sloper has a vegan pie on hand, available small ($9) and large ($14). 359 7th Avenue // 718-768-5327
Vinnie's Pizzeria: Of course there are vegan pies in Williamsburg! In fact, at Vinnie's pretty much any pie you want can be made vegan with the addition of your choice of Teese Soy Cheese or Daiya Vegan Cheese. Seriously, they'll make nearly any pie you want with that vegan "cheese"...even a Hawaiian-style pie with lots of ham on it. 148 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn // 718-782-7078
Viva Herbal: On Second Avenue this joint has a number of pies that are made without meat or meat products on crusts including spelt, whole wheat and corn meal. For your lack of guilt you'll pay anywhere from $3.25 for a slice of the Naturale (tomato sauce, miso tofu, fresh veggies and spinach) to $28.95 for a large pie of the Zen (green tea herbed miso tofu, green tea basil pesto, shiitake mushrooms, maitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, sundried tomato, roasted garlic, on a green tea herbed spelt crust). 179 2nd Avenue // 212-420-8801
The Cinnamon Snail: This popular Jersey food truck (coming our way any day now!) often offers its own twist on twist on the vegan pizza, a "raw pizza" served with onions, olives and a fresh herb salad. We mention this only as a gentle nudge to the truck should be coming to us any day now. In the meantime, you can follow their location on Twitter.
