Is everybody ready for tomorrow's pre-Halloween nor'easter? In case you didn't look earlier, let us remind you that today is the last day of Winter Weather Awareness Week. In the quiet before the storm we should have very pleasant, if brisk, fall weather today. Look for a high in the lower 50s with just a few wispy cirrus clouds and a bit of a northerly breeze.

Everything is setting up for a classic nor'easter tomorrow. Low pressure is scooting eastward from the Gulf Coast along the cold front that passed by us yesterday. When that system gets over the Carolina coast it is going to intensify and move northward. Rain is expected to start in the wee hours tonight and last all day Saturday. It will also be windy and the temperature will drop into the mid 30s by late in the afternoon.

Will that rain change to snow? That looks very likely north and west of the city. The Catskills, the mid-Hudson Valley, the Berkshires, and northwestern New Jersey may get 6-12 inches of wet, gloppy, snow. The city proper is right on the rain/snow boundary. Upper Manhattan and the Bronx might see an inch or two Saturday night while the rest of the city will see more of a messy mix of rain and snow or just snow with little accumulation. Keep in mind with the rain/snow boundary so close even the slightest change in the storm's expected path will greatly affect how much snow will fall. For you trick-or-treaters out there don't worry, Monday is shaping up to be a great day with a high in the lower 50s and a mix of sun and clouds.
