If you managed to survive the great Lulav Shortage of 2011 and are ready to shake those etrogs for the Jewish holiday Sukkot, which began this week, here's where to do it:
Times Square: This one's for all the Jewish tourists—Sukkah in the City, the first-ever sukkah in the Times Square area, is taking over the Ritz Plaza park at 235 West 48th Street. It's decorated with sunflowers and ladybugs, and visitors are welcome to eat their meals inside, though sadly, you cannot sleep there, no matter what the Torah says.
Open daily 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. through October 18
Tribeca: For downtown Jews, Chabad of Tribeca/Soho has set up a sukkah in a lot at 70 Warren Street, which is sponsoring a variety of family-friendly programming. For example: tonight, they'll be open late for a special Shabbat dinner, which your mother would be very pleased you're going to.
Open daily 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m through October 19
Bryant Park: It's been up before and it'll be up again: Chabad of Midtown's classy-looking sukkah behind the Public Library at Sixth Avenue and 41st Street. Stop by for services and a big ole Simchat Torah Eve Hakafot party on October 20.
Open daily, hours vary, through October 21
Finally, if you're Occupying Wall Street, there's a sukkah for you, too. Of course.
