Police are investigating three sexual assaults that took place in Brooklyn and Queens in the span of 24 hours this weekend. The first reported incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, when a woman grabbed at knifepoint in Springfield Gardens, Queens, on 145th Road near the Belt Parkway. The unidentified woman was walking home when she was tackled from behind by a man who tried to sexually assault her. Police sources tell NY1 that her assailant ran off when she screamed for help.

Later yesterday morning, another woman was attacked, sexually assaulted and robbed in the parking lot of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church on 59th Street in Sunset Park, around 5:30 a.m. Police sources tell NBC New York that the suspect, described as an Asian male, pulled the victim's hair and fondled her before stealing her purse in broad daylight. Sunset Park and the surrounding neighborhoods have been terrorized by sexual assaults in recent months, but investigators do not believe this incident is related.

A third attack took place in Windsor Terrace late last night, but like the Sunset Park assault, police say it's unrelated to other assaults in the area. ABC 7 reports that the victim in this case was walking on Vanderbilt Street when she was groped. After she screamed and fought back, her attacker ran into Greenwood Cemetery and vanished. He "appears to know the area well," police sources tell ABC 7, adding, once again, that most of the victims have been "petite white females, wearing skirts."
