Are you a writer looking for a solid gig that actually involves writing instead of, well, waiting tables? This post is for you. Seems that hizzoner is looking for a new hand to help put words into his mouth. Your salary, if you get the job, will depend on your experience. (It's unclear if Bloomberg will want your help translating into Spanish.)
Capital New York's new addition Azi Paybarah got ahold of an e-mail that was sent out earlier today by Bloomberg's top speechwriter, Francis Barry, casting a wide net for a new writer. Because our diminutive billionaire mayor from Boston's words don't just magically happen, y'know! Anyway, who knows, maybe you'll apply, and they'll love you and it'll be magic. You could turn out to be the next Ted Sorensen or Jon Favreau (no, not that one, this one). Worth a shot, right?
Anyway, here's the e-mail in full:
From: Barry, Francis
Date: Wed, Sep 7, 2011 at 12:43 PM
Subject: Speechwriting position
To: "Barry, Francis"
Cc: "Konstam, Amanda"Dear Friends,
My apologies for the mass email, but we have an opening on the speechwriting team here at City Hall, and we are casting a wide net. If you know someone who may be interested, and who has a talent for turning a phrase, please spread the word.
Resumes can be sent to [email protected] (Salary commensurate with experience.)
Many thanks,
Frank
