Was your subway commute a little crazy this morning? Blame the 6. At about 4 a.m. this morning a 6 train with roughly 100 passengers derailed near Harlem's 125th Street station. According to the MTA the incident is still being investigated and in the meantime the Lexington line has been dealing with a number of service changes all morning.

According to MTA.info for the time being there is limited 4, 5, and 6 service in both directions. Uptown 6 trains are running express from 42nd to 125th Street and uptown 5 trains are running on the 2 line from Nevins Street to 149th Street. Further, "as an alternative, customers are advised to use M101, M102 or M103 bus making nearby station stops and or D train service to and from Manhattan." Bronx-bound passengers seeking service to stations between 42nd Street and 125th Street stations can get off at 125th Street and transfer to a downtown 4, 5 or 6 train.

MTA officials say the derailment this morning occurred when the train went over a rail that had been loosened during track work. The NYPD and the FDNY were on the scene to help clear the train and all 100 passengers—including 16 that had to be evacuated by firefighters, according to the FDNY—were safely above ground by 5 a.m.

The MTA currently has no timetable for when normal service should resume on the Lexington line.
