The NYPD cop shot in Miami on Saturday "suffered medical complications Tuesday," the Daily News reports. Harold Thomas, 48, had "blood clots developing in his lungs," so doctors are going to be inserting a mesh screen to block the clots. This comes as Miami police have reportedly identified—not arrested—a suspect.

Thomas, a member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, had been vacationing in Miami and staying at the 1233 Lofts, a boutique luxury hotel in Miami Beach, when he was shot in the hotel's courtyard. Miami police say that a suspect or group of suspects fired at him repeatedly; Thomas managed to fire back at least once. The Miami police also said the suspect would be arrested soon, "At this point, any release of [the suspect's] identity, including his photo, will hamper the department’s investigation."

According to the Detectives' Endowment Association, Thomas' femoral artery "was completely shot away, but God was on his side." He was placed in a medically-induced coma but Miami authorities say he is "improving."
