Well, this is something of a surprise! Much ink has been spilled in the past year-and-a-half over the Downtown Italian Torrisi Italian Specialties. People love their lunchtime sandwiches and rave about their no-reservations prix fixe dinners. And lately Rich Torrisi, Mario Carbone and Jeff Zalaznick, the owners, have been making noise about their new just-sandwiches establishment called Parm, which is expected to open by Torrisi next month. Except, what's all this?! According to the Post, the pair is planning on opening a Parm outpost at Yankee Stadium tomorrow. And there's also good news here for San Gennaro...

The stand aims to serve a whole lot more turkey sandwiches (not to mention a new meatball offering) than its older sibling. "For a small restaurant group, we have a lot on our plates," Zalaznick told the tabloid. "We're probably the first restaurant of our size to do something like this. It's a totally new market, who we hope will have an equal appreciation for our sandwiches." Hey, if Shake Shack can make it at Citi Field!

The trio plans to open their 35-seat Manhattan outpost of Parm in the next month or two. Meanwhile, what caught out eye in the Post story is that the Torrisi guys are "curating a section of the San Gennaro festival this year" (they had a stand last year). So maybe the never ending (and sometimes controversial) festival will actually be worth a drop by again? Wonder if their section will be near that fashion show...
