The recent hot spell added two more 90-degree days, raising 2011's total to six days so far. That's way behind last year's near-record pace of 90-degree days, but only slightly behind the average pace. The graph's a bit misleading because July isn't yet half over. Poor 2004 only saw two days in which the temperature reached 90.

The city has a chance of adding to the 90 degree total today as the cold front that will cool us off is moving much slower than expected. Luckily the dew point is about ten degrees lower today than yesterday, making the warm weather much more bearable. A line of showers is approaching the city this morning but it is dying as it moves into the dry air. Be on the lookout for some rain around lunch time.

Behind the front is a mega high pressure system that's currently centered over Lake Superior. That thing is going to bring us days and days and days of sunshine. We can expect clear skies and highs in the mid 80s from tomorrow through the weekend. Warmer, more humid, weather will return early next week.
