With Friday night's good news we were expecting an eventful Pride March and yesterday New York delivered. As you can see in our photos, thousands of people of all persuasions came out in force to enjoy the beautiful weather and get a little more celebrating in.

And it wasn't just the people, the pols were out in force as well! Not only did Mayor Bloomberg march along with the much lionized Governor Andrew Cuomo, City Council Christine Quinn and State Senator Tom Duane (who got in that great kiss seen above) walked too. Also there? Former Governor David Paterson:

Far behind Messrs. Cuomo and Bloomberg, former Gov. David Paterson waved a rainbow flag from the back of a crowded truck. Wearing a short-sleeved, light blue, button down shirt, he looked like a parade-goer, not a politician.

But it was Mr. Paterson who first tried to pass same-sex marriage in New York in 2009, only to see it fail by six votes in the Senate. He seemed in awe of the way his successor managed to achieve what he could not.

"This governor took complete control of the process. He ran the whole process through his office, and that was nothing short of brilliant," Mr. Paterson said.

When asked how much credit he took for Friday's vote, Mr. Paterson responded: "None."
