If you happen onto Google's homepage today, you'll see a Takashi Murakami doodle celebrating the Summer Solstice! As the Japanese pop artist Tweeted, "Amazing ! I & kaikaikiki team are so happy this Happening ! Thanks a Lot team Google !"

When you click on the Doodle, you'll get details about the summer solstice. According to Google's Twitter, Murakami has also created a Google Doodle for the Winter Solstice (December 22).

For some more Murakami, check out these photographs from his 2008 Brooklyn Museum show and these photos of his Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons—he even dressed up as a flower for the parade!
