Representative Anthony Weiner, whose self-tweeted crotch-shot put him at the center of a whirlwind media circus for the past three weeks, just gave a press conference in Brooklyn in which he resigned from Congress, amidst a series of catcalls from the audience. He apologized for "the distraction that I have created."
Now, Weiner says, his "colleagues can get back to work, my neighbors can choose a new representative." And most importantly he and his wife can focus on their relationship.
Weiner, who repeatedly referred to himself as a distraction, now says he is going to be "looking for other ways to contribute my talents."
Durring his speech Weiner was interrupted a number of times by heckles from the Howard Stern's very own Benji, who repeatedly asked "Are you seven inches?" He was escorted out by police afterwards.

Before leaving the stage, Weiner made a pointed effort to not only thank his family for their support—especially his wife Huma Abedin who, though she wasn't with him for either press conference, "has stood with me throughout this entire ordeal"— but also to thank his staff who "are young people who are not paid very much."
