Do you have any idea how many of these people have alcohol tucked away in their bags?

Bryant Park's Monday night summer movie series doesn't kick off until June 20, but when it does boozehounds will be happy. After years of turning a blind eye to illegal drinking in the park during the popular outdoor screenings, and rumors of a policy change, DNAinfo is reporting that, pending approval from the SLA (which should happen), drinking will be allowed in the park during movies this summer.

"People like to bring drinks to the film festival and now we're trying to match the rules with the reality," Nell Wright, an event producer at the Bryant Park Corporation, said yesterday while presenting the plan to Community Board 5's Parks Committee.

The plan is to have 'wichcraft, which operates two kiosks in the park, to sell a selection of wines and beers that will be okay to drink on the lawn (the sandwich shop is mulling putting a max on drinks per person to keep things calm). In addition park visitors will be allowed to BYO—but just during the movie nights. "This gives the public an opportunity to not be breaking the rules," said Wright. "They will now be able to drink in the space."
