We're not very used to science backing up our lifestyle choices, but it turns out that when we crawl deliriously toward the Mr. Coffee every morning and stick our mouths directly under the filter drip, we might be doing something good for our bodies! According to lots of scientists, coffee is actually healthy, so take that, tea losers. Coffee is for closers.
We were first alerted to coffee's purported heart benefits earlier this spring thanks to a team of Israeli researchers. Now, a group of Harvard scientists are saying that coffee reduces the risk of prostate cancer for men, and a Swedish study indicates that a few cups can help reduce a woman's risk for breast cancer. The Atlantic article also mentions that coffee can keep you clear from gallstones, type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's, and might be good for your sex hormones, too.
So basically, you're invincible if you just keep pounding those espressos. Might we suggest one of David Lynch's custom blends? And show some New York pride while you're at it, by sipping your restorative elixir out of one of these charming ceramic takeout cups.
