Bob Dylan is turning 70 years young next week, and there's a slew of stuff happening around his big day. It all kicks off on Friday when the Morrison Hotel Gallery (124 Prince Street) will unveil their exhibit, featuring "never before seen photography" of the man himself. (Photographer Ken Regan will be on hand Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. to sign his book, which also features other artists from that time). Click through for a preview, and below is a list of other Dylan events happening in the next week:
- Celebrate Dylan's 70th at 116 (located at 116 MacDougal Street), a new bar and performance venue in the space that used to house the Gaslight Cafe (concert venue for Dylan's "Live at the Gaslight" album). They'll be celebrating Dylan, a new Bob Dylan New York book, and serving up 2-for-1 drinks.
- B.B. King's will be hosting a big celebration called "Highway 61 Revisited." Throughout the evening different musicians will recreate Dylan's greatest hits. Bonus: there's an electric and acoustic set.
- Speaking of Dylan going electric, why not head to the Film Forum to catch a screening of The Other Side of the Mirror: Bob Dylan Newport 1963-1965? They're also screening Don't Look Back.
- Or just go recreate The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan album cover (R.I.P. Suze Rotolo.)
