Welcome to our newish weekly column, "Staff Picks," in which we ask the staffers at our favorite book, music, and movie stores around to town to share with us what they're reading, listening to, and watching this week. We figure they're good people to ask. Last week we talked to Michael Stasiak at Other Music, and this week it's over to Dumbo's reRun Theater, where we talked to film curator Aaron Hillis about what he's excited for on the big screen.

Says Aaron: "I'm pleased as punch (actually, make that a "piña fucking colada") to screen Zach Clark's existential beach-party flick Vacation! at reRun from May 13th through 19th. I was a huge fan of Zach's feel-bad S&M comedy Modern Love Is Automatic, and his latest candy-colored odyssey (oddity?)—about four young ladies whose girls-only summer getaway is ruined by sex, drugs and death—is one of those rare finds that feels like it sprung from either a brilliant mind or perhaps an unhinged one. If you dig the anarchic wit of John Waters or Robert Downey Sr., I think you'll appreciate the twisted tone shifts at play, including the most erotic use of a blender I've ever witnessed."

Head's up: Clark and the cast will be on hand for a Q&A after the 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. screenings at reRun on Friday, and there are rumors that there will be shrimp cocktails and the tropical drinks to celebrate. Admission is free for guests wearing a swimsuit.
