The death of Osama bin Laden might not mean the end of Al Qaeda, but it may well mean the end of another threat to the American way of life: Donald Trump's fake presidential run. Between Saturday night's roasting at the White House Correspondents Dinner (which Trump didn't think was funny) and the slaying of bin Laden, suddenly the opinions and "politics" of the host of Celebrity Apprentice (a show which was disrupted on Sunday by Obama's announcement) seem less interesting.

“The events of the last 24 hours slapped America back to adultland,” GOP consultant Mike Murphy told Politico. “It’s time for the circus to leave town, and Trump will be on one of the wagons.” And Murphy isn't the only one espousing that opinion. “Donald Trump was the equivalent of shark attacks and Chandra Levy in the summer before 9/11. He was a curiosity. He was outrageous,” opined Frank Sesno, the former CNN Washington bureau chief.

And of course it doesn't help Trump's prospects that his big issue, birtherism, seems to have finally been put to rest before the bin Laden announcement. Nor does it help that Trump (who despite aiming for a Republican nomination has a tendency to donate to Democrats) seems uninterested in opening up with the press about his business dealings. And it is very hard to win an election if you have the press actually out to get you.

So will Trump's "campaign" end before it even officially started? We're sure we'll find out just in time for the Celebrity Apprentice finale on May 22. In the meantime, Trump wants us all to leave him alone so as to "spend the next several days not debating party politics," and instead remembering "those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those currently fighting for our freedom."

Sure thing. Meanwhile, here is just released video footage of Trump learning of the death of Osama bin Laden:
