Who doesn't love a food truck? Certainly not most New Yorkers and definitely not advertising agencies. But how is a hungry tourist, who keeps hearing about the trucks in the news and seeing them on the cooking shows, supposed to know where to go? A food truck tour, naturally.
No, the tour won't be in a food truck. Instead New York Street Food's tour will be on foot every Friday afternoon, rain or shine, between Memorial Day and Labor Day. For $40 bucks the ten curious eaters at a time will get a Midtown walking tour with samples from at least five Midtown food trucks. They'll also get a bottle of water and a map. The tours will start at 2:30 p.m. so as not to mess with the truck's regular business (and lines!).
The actual trucks that will be visited haven't been finalized yet, but they are in negotiations with places like the Biryani Cart, Wafels & Dinges, Bapcha, Carnegie John's, El Rey del Sabor, Kwik Meal and Jamaican Dutchy to provide the fare.
Considering some of the kinda lame tours that some of our tourists suffer through—not to mention the uninspired Times Square food they eat—this actually seems like a pretty fun way to expand tourists culinary horizons without too much pressure.
