Bike messengers have long been the misunderstood miscreants of the city, earning the ire of many a NYC pedestrian, cabbie, and New York Post columnist—until now. The Travel Channel aims to shed sympathetic light on the risky reality that is the job of a bike messenger—a fast-paced, highly competitive, dangerous job with sometimes low pay-off—with their new series, "Triple Rush," premiering next Thursday, April 14th. The show attempts to humanize these messengers, who are usually just a streak of lycra and near-miss collisions, by following around three courier companies for several months and catching the day-to-day details:

Though it was filmed during the humble beginnings of the NYPD's cycling crackdown, we wonder if there's any footage of messengers getting issued tickets for their reckless riding, or if the location of the secret meetings with DOT commissioner Sadik-Khan—as they further conspire the complete and total cycling take-over of the world—will finally be revealed.
