You want a McJob with those fries? McDonald's, which has 241 locations in our fair city, has announced that it is going to increase its workforce by a whopping eight percent the day after Tax Day. On April 19 the chain is aiming to hire 50,000 new people. Guess the company really expects those new commercials to bring the kids in.
The news of the fast food giant's plan comes days after the the U.S. government announced a gain of 216,000 jobs in March, putting the national unemployment level at 8.8 percent (New York City's unemployment rate is 8.9 percent). The company says the new $8.30-an-hour McJobs will be available across the country (the company has 1.7 million employees worldwide).
Pro tips for those applying: must be comfortable racially profiling those who want to use the bathrooms, exposing yourself to customers, and beating Iraq vets.
