The Terry Collins/Sandy Alderson Era started with a whimper in Miami Gardens, Fla. The Mets didn't get a hit until the seventh inning and fell quietly to the Marlins, 6-2. Mike Pelfrey started and faltered, allowing a grand slam to John Buck in the fourth inning. He left after not finishing the fifth. He walked four and struck out two. Willie Harris scored on a Carlos Beltran double (the one bit of good news was that Beltran played) and Ike Davis had an RBI groundout. Rule 5 pick Pedro Beato made his Major League debut in relief. David Wright was the only Mets starter in the 2010 opener to start in this game. The teams play two more times before the Mets head to Philadelphia on their way home.
Brandan Wright had 15 points and 11 rebounds, but that wasn't nearly enough to help the Nets, who fell to the 76ers, 115-90. The Nets have lost five straight. Little-known fact: Mario West became the 22nd Net to play this season. The team record is 23.
If the Devils don't win their final games, or if they don't get a lot of help, they'll miss the playoffs. But they delayed the inevitable kept their playoff hopes alive with a 4-2 win over the Flyers. Patrik Elias had a hat trick (Brian Rolston assisted on all three goals) and Nick Palmieri had the go-ahead goal. Johan Hedberg made 34 saves.

Early Addition: Winning an affordable housing lottery is great unless it's not
Because the apartment might be very small and not that affordable, here are your early links: Congestion pricing is paying for new subway elevators, G.W. Bridge has a new pedestrian walkway, not so many airplane barf bags and more.
