A scientist who was previously convicted for misappropriating government funds to pay for his sex change has been slapped with a $4 million dollar bill from the government to go along with the time she served in a women's prison.
Daniel "DB" Karron was convicted in 2008 for misappropriating funds from four different government contracts at his company Computer Aided Surgery, Inc. (CASI) to pay for everything from food to sex-change operation for himself and three other employees, according to the woman herself.
"Trannies are very good in high tech, and that's what I did," she told the Post yesterday. "It was a medical benefit."
Beyond her conviction for fraud (which her lawyers tried to appeal using the argument that Karron didn't misapply any funds since the Federal definition of "misapplication" was "unconstitutionally vague") the government went after Karron in civil court under the False Claims Act, which is where those millions come into play. Though Karron only got her paws on $1.6 million, the False Claims Act makes her liable for three-times that amount. She's planning on appealing.
Meanwhile, the Post reports that Karron is currently dating another felon she met in the slammer, but she's bummed since she can't see her while on supervised release. "You can't be jellin' with a felon," she told the tabloid.
