Teenagers: what hubris! It's a rare kid that doesn't indulge in shoplifting once in a while, but even if the thought of getting arrested is far from their minds, most still understand that getting arrested is a possibility. But apparently, three teenage girls in Brooklyn didn't, like, get the memo about the totally annoying relationship between crime and punishment.

The three 16-year-olds were caught shoplifting from the Atlantic Center Target on Thursday, stuffing clothing and makeup into their purses. But when caught, they reportedly told the police they thought they couldn't get arrested because of their age. We're guessing they got confused about the differences between being charged as an adult and charged as a minor, but in any case they were arrested and charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

Recently an 11-year-old was arrested for bringing a gun to his school, so you tweens aren't off the hook either.
