This September, FBI head Robert Mueller will be stepping down after his 10-year term, and Senator Chuck Schumer thinks current NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly would be great for the job. "I think the country needs him," he told the Daily News. "Ray Kelly is a world-class choice, and he's at the top of the list, whether it's fighting terrorism, drug crime or street crime." It would also keep Kelly from possibly running for Mayor against Schumer's protege, Anthony Weiner.

Kelly was considered for the post after his handling of the 1993 WTC bombings, but Schumer said, "In light of 9/11 and what the NYPD had done since, nobody understands the fight against terror that we face as much as Ray Kelly. His anti-terrorism experience is second to none." He also came to the rescue of a woman who was hit by a cyclist, and was recently helping at the scene of a multiple car pile-up on the FDR drive. Incidents which of course wound up in the press, as one would expect from a "Master of PR."
