We've seen some strange marijuana-related incidents in our time, but there are three simple pieces of advice we'd give to anyone looking to smoke pot: don't call 911 to ask if it's illegal to grow pot, don't brag to cops about destroying evidence, and whatever you do, don't pull a gun. It's advice which one teenager certainly could have used this week.
A presumably paranoid Kevin Campbell, 16, pulled a gun on a school-safety inspector who smelled marijuana on him at Park West HS, on 50th Street near 11th Avenue. As the guard tried to search him, Campbell allegedly yelled, "Back the f--- off!" at 11 a.m. Tuesday, as he pulled the weapon from his waistband. He fled the school after that, and has been missing since; he is reportedly still at large as of last night.
One more piece of advice: if you're carrying large quantities of drugs in your car, don't make any dumb traffic violations, or anything else conspicuous, like say, have too much tint on your car windows. Cops pulled over Hector Cedeno on Thursday night in Washington Heights for that offense, and noticed something peeking out from inside a seat cushion. They ended up discovering 13 kilos of cocaine hidden in the car, 12 kilos of which were in a secret hydraulic-operated compartment.
