Prosecutors want bail for banker Daniel Brown upped from $300,000 to $700,000 after police found a stash of cocaine in a safe in his apartment. Cops were in Brown's home looking for evidence in a gruesome sexual assault case brought forth by a 25-year-old ex-girlfriend who alleges that, among other things, he attacked her with a lacrosse stick while shouting "you ruined my Thursday night!" The young woman also claims over the course of their relationship he "punched her in bed, smashed her face into a mirror and rammed his fist down her throat to make her throw up."
Because the alleged attack happened in August, it is going to be tricky for police to substantiate it, especially as "video recovered from recording equipment in [Brown's] bedroom closet showed him using a lacrosse stick in an apparent consensual encounter with another women." And before we go on, we'd like to take a moment to mull on a secret sex video being used in a guy's defense. How often does that happen? Anyway.
In the victim's favor is Brown's history, which includes a domestic violence conviction from his days at Ohio State. Brown, when he isn't locked up at the Manhattan Detention Center, makes $120k-a-month as a banker at Sovereign Bank, according to the Post $120,000/year (looks like the Post updated its article!).
