Even without Martin Brodeur, the Devils continued their recent hot streak with a 3-2 overtime win over Carolina. Mattias Tedenby scored his second goal of the game 2:42 into overtime to make a winner out of Johan Hedberg, who also had an assist on the game-winner. Nick Palmieri tied the game with 2:54 remaining in regulation. Brodeur will need time to rehab his knee and is not expected to play any time soon. The Devils are 15 points out of a playoff spot. Is it too late? They have won 10 of 13 games and gotten points in 12 of 13.

Mikko Koskinen got the surprise start in net but allowed three third-period goals as the Islanders fell, 5-3, to Toronto at home. Kevin Poulin hurt his knee in pregame warm-ups. Things didn't go better in the game. Koskinen allowed goals on the first two shots he faced but managed to settle down for a while. The Islanders travel to Montreal on Thursday.
